Dear friends,
It is with great pleasure we announce the addition of an Astro-Imaging conference to ASAE ! Alan Traino has asked me to co-coordinate and host the event to be held November 14th Thursday and Friday the 15th before ASAE at the Tucson City Center Inn Suites. Presenters include myself, Adam Block, Dr. Craig Stark, Dr. Don 'Astrodon' Goldman, Wolfgang Promper, and many, many more! Registration opens soon, so please standby.

Both Rogelio Bernal Andreo (RBA!) and myself will be presenting PixInsight for the 10th annual Advanced Imaging Conference (AIC) in October. RBA will do an advanced look at specific object-oriented tasks. I'll do an intro to the program, and an intermediate workflow.

I hope you can join us for one or both of these great events!

FREE Imaging Tutorials- You get what you pay for!

Forgive the tease! We at IP4AP pride ourselves on our research, and accurately communicating facts to our customers in a carefully scripted and produced delivery. For this we charge what we believe are very reasonable prices.

In this 'American Idol age' where many think themselves a star or an expert because they've been at something for a short while, there is a compulsion for some amateur astro-imagers to share what they've learned with others. Sometimes this is motivated by a genuine desire to give back to the community. Other times, it's motivated out of ego, and/or 'too much time on my hands'.

What we're seeing as a result of this is misinformation disseminated through the community. And, in some cases, the content is directly pirated from myself, Ron Wodaski, Tony Hallas, and Adam Block, and passed along as the presenter's knowledge.

We all like free things. Even mediocre or bad food tastes better when it's free. But, we all know we get what we pay for, and quality is seldom free. I spend a great deal of time and effort to precisely document procedures for PixInsight, Photoshop, etc. and endeavor to make a living for my work. I don't feel the compulsion to fill bandwidth up with things which are neither my vocation or avocation.

This does not apply to friends and acquaintances such as Ken Crawford who produce accurate, informative, and well thought-out content. It does apply however to several folks who have posted totally erroneous tutorials on YouTube or their own blogs. They are doing the community a disservice!

Photoshops's Smart Sharpen is not deconvolution, not even close! The list goes on... My wish is that these 'educators' would stick to their jobs and please allow us to continue to do ours.

Please view our Free Samples at your convenience. I think you'll see the difference. Thanks for allowing me this platform.

PixInsight Part-2 Series Continues Production!

It is with great pleasure we announce the latest tutorial in our PixInsight Part-2 series which will post to www.ip4ap.com tonight 6/26/13-

PI-12 Nonlinear-6 Noise Reduction with ACDNR continues. GREYCstoration and the brand new TGVDenoise are introduced. 4:37min

We deeply apologize for the delay! Warren had presentations to prepare and travel for at RTMC and Celestron Perspective on Imaging, and Rogelio has been on a much needed vacation. While Warren has a SKY & Telescope article to prepare, production of Part-2 will be more consistent until the Advanced Imaging Conference approaches in October, where both Rogelio and Warren have presentations to prepare for! Thanks again for your patience.

In some ways, the break has been advantageous, allowing us to introduce TGVDenoise just in the nick of time, before wrapping up noise reduction!

Pleased to be presenting for Celestron Int'l at THIS great industry event! I'll get to talk about my part in the development of Astro FX software for Nightscape CCD cameras.

Apologies to PixInsight Part-2 subscribers- first RTMC, now back to L.A. for this. Will crank out new tutorials soon, thanks for your patience!

Big News at IP4AP

PixInsight Part-1 has been converted to the HTML5-friendly format of Part-2. This will make both series a joy to watch on non-Flash iPads and iPhones, Android Tablets, etc. It will of course continue to play as Flash in PC/Mac browsers. Additionally, the very nice Closed Captioning subtitles and Search Features available in PixInsight Part-2, now work for Part-1 as well! Please visit www.ip4ap.com

Also, IP4AP is inking a deal with France's Pierre-Astro http://www.pierro-astro.com/ to have our PixInsight content translated en Francais and carried by them 'Over There'!

Lastly, I'd like to promote our previous Soup to Nuts series. S/N (not signal to noise!) affectionately known as 'soup' is a terrific, fill-in tutorial series for those who have been with us at IP4AP. S/N teaches image processing Calibration/Reduction in a very simple and easy to follow way. It then demonstrates the theory in both MaxIm DL5 and MSB-Astroart 5, and proceeds with additional pre/postprocessing techniques in those programs.

Additionally, it catches viewers up to the workspace of Adobe Photoshop CS4 and 5, from where our earlier Photoshop series left off in CS2. We appreciate your support on these earlier series!

Thanks again for your overwhelming support of PixInsight Part 1 and 2!

Dear folks,
Our new PixInsight Part-1 tutorial DVD is finally ready to ship! The streaming version has been a very hot ticket for us. The disc contains 2.5 hours of pure information in twenty-three, highly produced and scripted flash tutorials by myself w/ consultation by Rogelio Bernal Andreo.
Samples are available linked from here-
Here too is some verbiage from the press release-
This time out, IP4AP boards a new vehicle called PixInsight for which there is tremendous interest. Warren Keller has teamed with PixInsight Expert Rogelio Bernal Andreo, an APOD imager and recipient of AIC's prestigious Pleiades Award. IP4AP's succinct and to the point format delivers the much needed 'context and chronology' to the existing information available on PixInsight- the what to do and when to do it. If you're new to image processing, PixInsight is specifically designed for Astrophotography, and is a very powerful and less expensive alternative to Photoshop. Part-1 of the series will get you comfortable navigating in PixInsight. You'll learn how to Reduce, Align, and Combine quality master files; and while still in the linear space: repair Gradients with ABE and DBE, achieve proper color balance with ColorCalibration, and restore sharpness with Deconvolution.

Here is the Table of Contents-
PixInsight Part-1 DVD will be available from OPT, Ian King, Teleskop-Service and other fine shops, as well as directly-
http://www.ip4ap.com/dvd.htm

On another note, Rogelio and I will both be presenting at the 10th Anniversary Advanced Imaging Conference in Santa Clara in the fall of 2013- www.aicccd.com/
Thanks so much for your kind attention!
Best, Warren, Peter, and Rogelio
